Christmas Crackers

First off congratulations must go to Toy Town FC for their exceptional result last night in the UEFA cup. The Dandies have now drawn a cracker against Bayern Muenchen.

Regular readers know I'm really a fan of the Blues, but I was there at Pittodrie in 1983 when the Dons, en route to winning the European Cup Winners Cup, embarrassed the German Meisters. Wonder if I will be working on Valentine's Day?

Secondly, I'm about to delve into the myriad of mumbo jumbo and mystification over the Xmas celebrations.

Many have posted over the place of a Christian celebration in our diverse and multi-cultural society. Let's get one thing straight. Xmas has little to do with Christ and let's stop pretending otherwise. In other words, why do we insist on the use of His name in the moniker for what is essentially a pagan winter holiday aggravated by the pavlovian devotion to greed and excess typified by modern secular society.

In my brave new world we would continue to recognise the birth of Christ by maintaining the education and interaction children get at skool with nativity shows and the like, but we would weigh this against the need to celebrate Easter as the truly significant time for Christians.

I could ask you to consider the devout and essentially pure stance taken by some of our local Presbyterians at this time. Surprised? Personally, I prefer this tale. It about sums up my view perfectly. So go on enjoy the festivities! Only spare some time and contemplation for your Maker. If you don't, this could happen to your weans.

Meanwhile, at your local Primary Skool, it's just as well the new security system doesn't listen in as well as talk to the kidz.

Did I mention I was now on my Yuletide / Festive / Seasonal / Winter Holiday (a.k.a. Annual Leave) till the third day of next year and that I have got my SPP and full 2.5%?

I'm off to drink mucho whisky and beer
. Will think of you as I do.

Finally, does anyone know how much a Wii weighs?

Has the world gone nuts?

I actually thought it was the 1st April when I read this report from Sky News.

My good friend Foamy will have something to say about this I'm sure.

I know that there is deep mistrust between the West and the Iranians these days, but I have to say I think this is a tale too far.

Expect Al Quaida trained futret suicide squads to strike back. You have been warned.

n.b. Foamy can be a bit 'naughty'!

Miss Pink Cat reports

Good afternoon readers. I hope you are all feline fine. It's been a purrfect week for me.

Firstly, there was that old softy Gadget going all gushy over his new kitty.

Secondly, Twining 'came out' and revealed what a handsome pinko he is. I have decided to shun Mr Plod's advances because he doesn't have stripes like my new paramour, although I've always fancied a wee dalliance with a Black Panther - you know what they say eh?

Must dash off and pen a few lines for the local rag known as the Scratching Post and then try and hook up with PeePee. I'll keep you posted on how that goes.

Battery Low

Well it's that time of year when you parcel up all the new gizmo's for the weans. iPods are all the craze and Foamy gives a seasonal warning here for all those poor folk who absolutely, like, just must have the kewlest of all mp3 players. Personally, for all the reasons he states, I'd recommend the Sandisk Sansa e280 if you've time to get one, it's cheaper, replacement batteries are available at a tenner and you get video playback to boot!

Having said all that, you can now see Foamy's episodes as Podcasts here.

Merry Christmas from all the Toy Town residents.

Spiders on Drugs

This link to a piece of research is another great find on the web (sic) by Sergeant Says.

Make sure you check out the link to mental state thereon.

As for Sergeant Says article, I think Foamy has some straightforward advice here.

Scotland - is that an underground station?

Today's Scottish Daily Mail ran a belter regarding call centres.

Man calls Network Rail to enquire about journey to Scotland and sleeper availability.

Problems encountered were:

  1. Call centre employee in Mumbai didn't know where Scotland was. Passed call to Supervisor.
  2. The Supervisor, equally stumped, uttered the phrase as per post header.
  3. Supervisor asked what was wrong with caller's own slippers.
It will come as no surprise that the caller flew to Scotland!!

n.b. link has effing and blinding. Should guarantee folk go CLICK then!
